About Us Head’s Message
Whickham School educates over 1600 students and has the largest sixth form in Gateshead. We are particularly proud of the above comments from our latest Ofsted report and constantly strive to ensure that we maintain the high standards recognised by Ofsted. Where students are cared for and provided with an excellent curriculum, they are much more likely to succeed. We want all of our students to learn in a happy and caring environment so that they are able to develop all their talents to the full. Whilst there is a strong emphasis on academic achievement, all students are encouraged to take part in a very wide range of extra curricular activities. Our Sportsmark and Artsmark Gold awards reflect the school’s commitment to educating the whole child.

We work hard to maintain excellent links with the community and are constantly looking for ways of enhancing this relationship. We have very strong links with our partner primary schools in curriculum.
